Our County and Township Issue Resolutions on Hate

At the urging of Sugarcreek Cares, the elected officials of Greene County and Sugarcreek Township issued resolutions against hate and violence against all people. This is the first time in recent times that the officials have addressed hate and violence publicly. However, the county commissioners and township trustees were asked to issue a statement condemning hate and violence specifically against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in light of the rising attacks against them this last year during the pandemic. The resolutions do not name any specific community of individuals, and instead only listed race, creed, and gender. During public comment at the county meeting and township meeting, residents talked about the need for the commissioners to be courageous and support those most in need.
